By Council on Criminal Justice and Behavioral Health (CCJBH)

Date and time

Thursday, June 20, 2019 · 9am - 3pm PDT

Location

East End Complex Auditorium

1500 Capitol Avenue Sacramento, CA 95814

Description

CCJBH will kick off a stakeholder engagement process to gather input related to current needs and best practices of programs and policies that include using Lived Experience in the intersection of the criminal justice and behavioral health systems. This kick-off meeting is intended to educate, motivate, and solicit subject matter experts targeting policy makers and program administrators. There will be an opportunity to hear from keynote speakers and experts in the field about how lived experience is a proven evidence based practice in reducing incarceration of those with mental illness.

CCJBH will use information obtained at this kickoff event to help guide the rest of the stakeholder engagement process (summer/fall 2019) which will include an online survey, focus groups, and regional listening sessions through-out the state. The robust process will elicit input from diverse populations including consumers, family members, and professionals to provide their first-hand perspectives.

This stakeholder engagement process will provide the information necessary to develop a funding opportunity for organizations to apply that can help reduce the incarceration of individuals with mental health challenges.
